My name is Beverley and I am the founder of Fondant Friends. I started my cake journey in my early 20s when I completed a cake decorating course in England. I went on to make cakes for christenings and special occasions, but mostly I made them for family and friends. It wasn’t until years later when my daughter embarked on her own cake making business that I started making fondant cake toppers. She asked me one day to make an elephant for one of her cakes to which I replied, ‘I don’t know but I’ll give it a go!’ Well my first attempt resulted in a burst of laughter and a, ‘there’s no way I’m putting that on a cake’. So, back to the drawing board I went and practised again….and again, until finally I had something that at least resembled an elephant. Since then I have worked each week on perfecting my skills. I began by selling my little creations to local bakers in the area, but over one year on and I am now packaging them up and sending them across Australia to busy mums (and dads) and to business owners.
